Week Four

Day Eighteen (Saturday). More progress on the roof - it's almost finished but unfortunately the tiles were easily broken and so we need to order a few extra (50) to replace the ones broken during fitting (you can see gap left in this pic). New design ideas for the kitchen, so visited a couple of kitchen places to hear their thoughts.

Day Nineteen (Sunday). Internal phone wires needed fixing, so our friend Tony came to help with that, plus to feed out the speaker wires to the new extension.

Day Twenty (4th August) Finishing touches put to the roof - it's looking good! Underfloor insultation fitted ready for the flooring to be put on top. Oh and the third wall has been sealed up and insulated so the blockwork can hopefully start outside it.

Day Twenty-one An early start for Craig - he went to order the bathroom before work, so we now have the WC and basin here, but the shower enclosure is on order, hopefully to arrive next week. A start was made on running the electrics out to the extension, and the kitchen window has been fitted.

Day Twenty-two The tri-fold doors arrived, and (much to the horror of the builder) the frame has to be assembled (from about a gazillion bits). More electrics were put in for lights etc, some plumbing work was done to let us hook up the sink next week, and the floor has been laid. Also took delivery of the central heating system, the radiators weigh tons!

Day Twenty-three Work started on the nightmare doors :-) Following the horrendous instructions, it took our two builders a whole day to build and fit the frame, then hang the three doors. Whew! Me and my mum were then left with the fun job of varnishing them which took almost as long! Still, they look luverly - see photos of them closed, part open and fully open.

Day Twenty-four - the old kitchen window has come out and the new frosted one has been fitted for the shower room. We also went to collect the new column radiators for the extension plus a heated towel rail for the shower room. Getting there, but pleased to be escaping the mayhem for a weekend at the seaside!
